How to create a WhatsApp link with a prefilled message

A WhatsApp link opens a conversation without asking someone to save the phone number first. You can also prepare an opening message, such as “Hello! I would like to know more about your opening hours.” The person opening the link still chooses whether to send it.

This is useful for a profile bio, a website or a digital invitation. Before sharing, check the complete phone number and make sure the link opens the right conversation.

What to have ready

  • The country calling code for the receiving number.
  • The area code, where it is part of that number.
  • The complete number registered with WhatsApp.
  • A short opening message, if you want to include one.

If the generator has a separate country-code field, do not repeat that code in the phone-number field. Follow the international format for your country rather than copying the way a number is written on a local business card.

Create the link in five steps

  1. Open the InfosPixel WhatsApp link generator.
  2. Check the country code and enter the phone number, including its area code where needed.
  3. Write the optional message. For example: “Hello! Could you tell me your opening hours?”
  4. Generate the link and use the copy button.
  5. Open the copied address and check the number and message. You do not need to send anything to carry out this check.

For your first check, use a contact you control. A made-up sequence can illustrate a format, but it should not be shared as a real contact or used to message an unknown person.

What a wa.me address contains

The basic structure is https://wa.me/NUMBER. The number is in full international format, using digits only. A prefilled message adds an encoded text section to the address.

You do not have to build that section yourself. The generator prepares the address, including spaces and accented characters in the message. After copying, check the text in the conversation that opens, especially names or words containing accents.

Where to share your link

You can place it in your profile’s link field, on your website or in a digital document. Use a clear label such as “Contact me on WhatsApp” so readers know where the link goes.

A prefilled message is different from an automatic reply. It prepares the visitor’s opening text; it does not schedule messages or answer on your behalf.

If the link does not work as expected

  • Wrong contact: check the country code, area code and every digit.
  • Number not found: confirm that the WhatsApp account uses that exact phone number.
  • Missing message: generate the link again and copy the complete address.
  • Unexpected destination: test on the device you intend to use and check which app or page opens.

Keep private information out of the prefilled message: it becomes part of the address you share. A short, general greeting is usually enough.
